HEAD COACH: Darren Minami  

Darren begins his 6th season as varsity coach with an overall record of 73-61. This is his 11th year as a Reedley High Pirate basketball coach. Coach Minami led the 2003-2004 Pirates to the school’s first Division II Section Championship since 1966 and along the way, set the school record for wins with 25. He was NYL Coach of the Year two times and named Fresno Bee coach of the year in 2004. Darren played point guard for the Pirates from 1989-1991 where he was coached by current assistant coach Barry Warmerdam. He is a teacher and department chair in the Business Department at Reedley High.

Barry specializes on the defensive side of the ball as well as bringing a wealth of overall basketball knowledge and experience. He was formerly the varsity coach at RHS, and he has coached the Reedley College Men’s and Women’s programs, as well as other high schools in the valley. Barry was the Coach Minami’s varsity coach during his days at Reedley High. He rejoined the staff when Coach Minami took over the varsity squad in 2001. Barry is married to Kathy and they have four grown children: Nathan, Steve, Beth, and Jacob.

Jorge specializes on the offensive side of the ball and player development. He also brings a great deal of experience as a player as he was one of the best guards of his time from Reedley High School , graduating in 1988. Jorge is entering his 7th season as a Varsity Assistant. He is also actively involved in the Pirate Small Ball program for 5th through 8th graders as he has assisted in developing future Pirates as a coach. Jorge is married to Renee and they have a 5-year old daughter, Abby, and a 1-year old son, Pierce.
