FRESNO

1-22-2004

The Reedley High Pirates improved their season record to 15-2 with a resounding 82-41 victory over the Fresno High Warriors.  The win moved the Pirates' NYL record to 3-0.

After struggling to score in their last two contests, the Pirates employed their tough man-to-man defense to set up scoring opportunities in their transition game.  The Pirates refound their three point shooting touch, draining ten threes on the night.

Reedley led 8-5 late in the first quarter when Jon Wallen connected from beyond the stripe.  The three sparked a 22-0 run that continued til mid-way through the second quarter when Wallen scored on a feed from Jon Lepp.  The score was now 30-5 and the Pirates were in control.

Colin Hofer turned in another brilliant performance, scoring both inside and outside, while pacing the Pirates with 24 points.  Lepp scored 11, including two threes.  Jose Alvarez played a strong game and scored 11 points.  Wallen contributed 10 points on the night.

The Pirates return to action next Tuesday night when they host the Edison Tigers.  The Pirates hope that starter Pepijn Dekker is recovered from a knee injury in time for the Edison game.  Dekker sat out tonight's game, icing his knee throughout the game.
